The birth of any baby is undoubtedly an exciting time and a time for celebration but it is also generally a nervous time with you rushing around ensuring that you have everything that you need and stressing about whether or not you will be able to cope. This of course is especially true if this is your first baby.
The idea for the baby shower came about as a special time for family and friends to be together in advance of the baby's arrival and to help relieve the financial burden on parents-to-be by giving them many of the furnishings and accessories that they will need once the baby is born.
In spite of the fact that nowadays many people like to break away from the traditional mold when it comes to a baby shower, generally these events still adhere largely to traditional guidelines. Possibly one of the biggest changes to the modern baby shower format is the fact that they are no longer exclusively for women and plenty of men make it onto today's guest list and are more than happy to join in. Although they may not play all of the baby shower games, men do get pleasure from the opportunity to give their regards to the expectant parents.

The baby shower is traditional and for the most part every shower involves the same basic planning and activities. A guest list will have to be compiled, a location chosen and invitations sent out. The shower location then needs to be decorated and drink, food and games organized. Also, because it is a very special event, you may want to think about having a magician or other performer taking part in the festivities and a photographer to record the day.
Your baby shower can grow into a big affair with many things to arrange which are going to end up costing a lot of money. For this reason it is sensible to draw up a budget for your shower before you start and then ensure that you stick to it.
Holding a successful baby shower does not need any special talent but it takes a well thought out plan that includes a timeline and a budget.
